About

Carlos Azucena

Born in El Salvador, raised in South Central Los Angeles. Carlos came to this country at three years old — and to cinema the same way: through the back door, carrying things, learning by being inside it. Prop houses. Set departments. Learning what light does to a face before reading a single manual.

That foundation carried him onto the sets of defining films of his era — alongside Quentin Tarantino, James Mangold, Robert Rodriguez, and Julia Sweeney. From props and special effects to cinematographer, DP, producer, and director.

He is the author of ten books — memoir, thriller, sci-fi, spiritual. His publishing imprint is Humble Farms Press. His representation is G Plan Media. He owns and operates a full cinema-grade production arsenal with ARRI, RED, Sony, and Zeiss Cooke glass.
